Overview

June 4, 2018

The Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA) has issued new respirable crystalline silica standards to help protect workers exposed to crystalline silica on the job. NRECA is hosting a webinar to discuss the Final Rule, permissible exposure limits (PEL) and need-to-know compliance information to help cooperatives meet the upcoming June 23, 2018 deadline.

Information about Crystalline Silica

Respirable crystalline silica is created when cutting, sawing, grinding, drilling, and crushing stone, rock, concrete, brick, block, and mortar. About 2.3 million people in the U.S. are exposed to silica at work. Workers who inhale crystalline silica particles are at increased risk of developing serious silica-related diseases.
