The Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) published new guidelines for Spill Prevention, Control, and Countermeasure (SPCC) inspectors, including what they will now be looking for at electrical facilities.
During this live 60-minute presentation for Distribution co-ops, speaker Mark Howard of the EPA explained changes coming in the new SPCC guidance and how the rules may impact these co-ops. The SPCC rule includes requirements for oil spill prevention, preparedness and response to prevent oil discharges to navigable waters and adjoining shorelines. The EPA's revised guidance also requires specific facilities to prepare, amend and implement SPCC Plans. It also includes special provisions to reduce the burden on electrical facilities and small facilities.
