The 2014 Accounting, Tax and RUS Update Web Conference provides a mid-year update on the latest accounting and tax issues and regulations.

During the Web conference, Russ Wasson, NRECA executive director of tax, accounting and finance policy, will provide an update on various accounting and tax developments that have occurred since the July 2013 Accounting, Finance & Tax Conference.

Diana Alger, Chief of the Technical Accounting and Auditing Staff of the Rural Development Utilities Programs, will also be on hand to discuss several RUS updates.

​Program highlights include:

  • Currrent status of Lease Accounting and potential implications for electric cooperatives

  • Recent IRS private letter rulings

  • New developments in Buy America

  • Current status of revenue recognition and potential issues for our industry

Continuing Professional Education (CPE) Credits


Accounting, Finance and Tax Mid-Year Update Web Conference = 1.5 CPEs (1 Accounting and .5 Tax)

Certified Public Accountants (CPAs) applying for these credits must complete all of the following National Association of State Boards of Accountancy (NASBA) requirements:

  1. Register for the web conference. Each person applying for CPE credits must register individually.

  2. Log on and participate in the entire web conference. Each person applying for CPE credits must log on individually. Others may view the web conference with them; however, only the person who logs on will be eligible for CPE credits.

  3. Complete the online evaluation form at the end of the web conference. One section of this evaluation form will have an area specifically for those participants applying for CPE credits to fill out.

  4. Three to four weeks after the program, certificates of completion will be sent to those participants applying for credits. NRECA is registered with the National Association of State Boards of Accountancy (NASBA), as a sponsor of continuing professional education on the National Registry of CPE Sponsors. State boards of accountancy have final authority on the acceptance of individual courses for CPE credit. No prerequisites and/or advance preparation is required for this program and the program level is basic, “Group-internet based.”

Web Conference:

  • $0: For paid registrants of the 2013 NRECA Accounting, Finance and Tax Conference. Although there is no fee for paid registrants to attend the Web conference, you must register to participate.

  • $150: For non-registrants of the 2013 NRECA Accounting, Finance and Tax Conference.

CD Kits of the Web Conference:

If you are unable to attend the web conference, CD kits will be available for purchase following the event:

  • $25 for registrants of the Web conference

  • $150 for those who did not register for the Web conference
