CEO Close-Up invites you to submit a proposal that showcases collaboration between your company and an electric cooperative for presentation during the Conference, to be held January 13-14 at the JW Marriott Desert Springs Resort in Palm Desert, California. This is an exclusive opportunity for NRECA Platinum Associate Members to share your knowledge and expertise on a specific electric cooperative project with electric cooperative CEOs and General Managers.

Project Profile Logistics
Project Profiles sessions are
60 minutes in length, which will accommodate
three, 15-minute Project Profiles. Each Project Profile presentation is limited to 15 minutes and a maximum of seven (7) power point slides. The presentation may be made by a representative from the Platinum Associate Member company, by an electric cooperative CEO (or other staff) or a combination of the two. If you choose to have a representative from an electric cooperative speak, it is your responsibility to confirm their participation before providing the name to NRECA.
Overall Review and Selection Criteria
The maximum number of project profile submissions a Platinum Associate Member may submit is
two. Please take a few minutes to review the tips below before you press “Submit.”
Tips to Increase Consideration of your Submission
Provide the name(s) of the electric cooperatives you worked with on this project. “Multiple”, “TBD”, “TBA”, “to come” or blank submissions
will not be considered.
This is about your collaboration with an electric cooperative. Focus your proposal on the problem that was addressed and/or opportunity that was leveraged and how your company and the cooperative worked together. Proposals that address IOU and/or municipal utility projects
will not be considered.
Know your audience – CEOs of electric cooperative utilities. Avoid a proposal that is more technically and operationally focused. Keep it higher level and strategic. Focus on results.
Takeaways/Quick Points are critical. Please provide four takeaways that summarize the objectives and outcomes for the project. Be specific.
Eliminate the perception of a marketing and sales presentation by limiting references to products or vendors. This is a very sensitive issue among conference participants and obvious marketing and sales proposals
will not be considered.
Speaker Names. You do not need to provide the names of the speakers for your profile at the time of submission. We will request that information if your submission is accepted for presentation at the conference.
Approximately 500 characters (65 words) are allocated for your proposal description. Make good use of those characters by typing in a block, no indentations, no tabs, etc.
Project Profiles will be reviewed by an advisory group of electric cooperative CEOs/General Managers and NRECA subject matter experts. Reviewers will consider the following:
- Does the project/proposal address an issue of concern, or opportunity, for electric cooperative CEOs? Is the proposal written with a CEO audience in mind? Not focused on tactics and operations.
- Does the proposal focus on results? In 15 minutes will the CEOs in attendance learn something new that can be applied back at their co-op? Cutting edge technologies, trends, insights and leading practices?
- Is the project profile clear and concise?
- Are the four takeaways clear? Do they highlight project objectives and outcomes? Can they be met in the allotted presentation time (15 minutes, maximum seven power point slides)?
- Does the project profile include a proposed speaker from an electric cooperative?
Demand exceeds supply and we will receive more proposals than we have available presentation slots. Some categories may receive a greater number of submissions than others. Proposal submission does not guarantee a speaking slot.
Project Profile Speaker Process
You do not need to provide speaker names for your project profile at this time. We will collect that information if your profile is selected for presentation at the conference.
In October 2019 confirmed speakers will be sent a speaker confirmation letter and agreement form that outlines the specifics of their participation.
Speakers are required to register themselves and pay appropriate registration fees unless other arrangements are made with program manager. Contact Val Parks, CEO Close-Up Program Manager with questions –
CEO Close-Up has instituted the following guidelines concerning Conference speakers and presentations:
- Proposal submitter will provide confirmed Speaker Names and contact information as requested by the date provided in submission acceptance email.
- Speaker confirmation letters and business agreement forms will be sent to ALL speakers. The Proposal Submitter will be copied on that communication.
- Completed agreement forms must be completed by the deadline provided in Speaker Letter.
Requests for expense reimbursement (hotel, airline, ground transportation, meals) and/or waiver of registration fees will not be permitted unless agreed to in advance and outlined in the speaker business agreement form.
- Permission has been granted by the program presenters for official
CEO Close-Up photographs.
- Presenters are responsible for obtaining written permission, if applicable, from copyright holders for the duplication of previously published materials distributed as handouts at any session.
- FINAL Presentations and collateral material are due December 12. Details will be provided in the speaker confirmation letter.
